Inspired..

I've been inspired to artfully create this month and so it is fitting that Donna Downey's first Canvas Create project that I signed up for reflects that.

I found it so scary but freeing to just put paint on canvas without any pre-drawing of any kind...(that's more my style) and writing with india ink right on the canvas almost sent me over the edge with fright but I went for it...

I'm inspired to keep on going....

Help Portrait Project

Have you heard of the HELP PORTRAIT PROJECT?
I recently joined a local photography meetup group and found out they are involved in this project. This is an awesome opportunity for everyone to be a part of..whether a photographer or volunteer. Check your local photography meetup groups for participation. I am thrilled to be a part of it this year.

The Gift

I was looking out the window contemplating my 'confined' state and not making any progress...when Ms Butterfly landed on a leaf on a tree outside the window.  She sat patiently while I marvelled at it, frantically searched for my camera, got it turned on and focused. 

And then she did the most marvelous thing...she opened her wings

and I knew I was free...What a gift!

Jail Bird

I'm feeling really confined right now...spiritually, mentally, physically, creatively..

The good/bad part is that I know its in me to set myself free...

Road Trip

I love road trips!
I had an especially enjoyable 3 hour road trip (and back) this past Saturday.  The weather was gorgeous,  the traffic was minimal and I had great tunes to listen to.  But what made it even more special was that I brought my 16 yr old niece back with me.
She will be living with me until she graduates in a couple years. I love living alone but I'm going to love having her with me even more!
I've got some fun road trips planned for her and I!

RAIN!!

Rain nourishes the soil as well as the soul...
I've been in a creative dry spell for the last 5 months and coincidentally, we haven't had any significant rain in that time either.  The brown dry landscape mirrored what I was feeling internally.
It finally rained this past weekend - significantly!
I could almost see everything coming alive right before my eyes.

I too, feel like I am alive again..ready to create and see where it leads.
The first place is my blog...whether anyone else reads it or not..it is a way of staying true to myself creatively.
Feels good to be back..

Durant, OK

I was in Durant, OK this past week on a work assignment.  I didn't have much time to sightsee but I did manage to take photos of a couple interesting things...

What Happened??

On Sunday I planted Morning Glory seeds in little peat pods

By Thursday I had seedlings!!

and by Saturday morning they were dead!! What happened?

Too much or not enough water? Too much or not enough sun?

Time to start over!!
